Debt Payoff Calculator — Credit Card and Loan Strategies

Plan credit card or loan payoff with avalanche or snowball style schedules. Free debt payoff calculator from Calculator Direct — educational only.

Plan how long it may take to pay off credit cards or loans using avalanche (highest interest first) or snowball (smallest balance first) style schedules, given a monthly budget.

Educational planning tool only — not credit, debt, or financial advice. Lender terms may differ.

Avalanche vs snowball

Avalanche targets the highest APR first after minimums — usually the lowest total interest. Snowball targets the smallest balance first — often better for motivation. This page supports both; there is no separate thin /credit-card-payoff URL in v1.

How to use this calculator

  1. Add each debt with balance, APR and minimum payment (credit card mode works the same).
  2. Enter the total you can pay toward all debts each month.
  3. Choose avalanche or snowball.
  4. Review estimated months to clear and interest paid.

Worked example: card + loan

A £3,500 card at 22.9% APR and a £6,000 loan at 9.5% with a £500 monthly budget typically clears faster with avalanche on interest cost, while snowball may clear the smaller balance first.
